VJFC Update

Dear Families, Members and Supporters,

Welcome back to footy for 2019 and Happy New Year to all of our kids and families.  I’m sure everyone is very excited to get back to school and before we know it we’ll be into another season of football.

After an amazing 2018 season that culminated with recognition as the EFL’s Best Conducted Junior Club and premiership success for the U12 & U14 Purple teams and all of our senior men’s and women’s teams in football and netball, we are all working hard to build on that success to prepare for what promises to be a fantastic 2019.

Some of our older junior teams came together for pre-Christmas sessions and all of our teams will begin regular sessions over the coming weeks.  So keep an eye out for an information email from your age group coordinator and coaches about times and days as we confirm grounds and availability over the next week or two.

This year will also bring new opportunities as we will field an U10 Girls team for the first time ever. All our coaches, players, parents and volunteers are gearing up and getting ready for the start of the junior season on Sunday April 7th. We have once again confirmed that we will hold practice matches for all age groups in the weeks prior to the formal start of the season.

Committee News

In committee news we have a very important update with our wonderful long-serving Secretary, Kylie  Roberts, unfortunately stepping down over the off season. I want to personally thank Kylie for the outstanding work she has put in over many years.  We will never be able to fully replace the contribution that Kylie has made and this contribution is one of the major reasons that we are the Best Conducted Junior Club in the EFL.

Taking on the Secretary role is Rob Wilson.  Rob has been on our junior committee for a number of years and we are extremely fortunate that Rob moves into the Secretary position with a solid understanding of the club and committee setup. Changes to our committee also create opportunities for us to review all the work that our amazing volunteer committee members take care of, if you are interested in getting involved there has never been a better time and we will include some descriptions of the roles we would like some help with over coming weeks.

Once again welcome back for 2019 as we look forward to another exciting season.
If you think this is something that you could help the club with, please contact me or one of the other committee members.  If you have any queries about the club, please feel free to contact me on 0433 190 935 or president@vermontjfc.com.au. Go Eagles!

Clint Wheeler
VJFC President

Social Co-ordinator Role

We still require a parent or two to take on the Social Co-ordinator role on the Junior Committee.  Tasks include:

1. Managing the kitchen at the Back to the Clubrooms nights and & Jumper Presentation Night.  This includes ordering pizza and organising Team Managers to provide kitchen helpers.
2. Organise entertainment for the Parents Social Night.
3. Assist with the two Presentation Days including organising gifts (we use Fudge & Wantirna Hill vouchers).
4. U17 & U18s Gala Night – provide assistance to the Gala Committee with Helper Gifts & medals / trophies.

If you may be interested in helping the club out in this type of role, please contact Clint or another committee member.

New Club Website Launched!

We have recently launched a new club website that incorporates all sections of the Vermont Football Club including Seniors, Senior Women, Netball & the Juniors.  You can check it out at the new address: www.vermontfc.com.au or by simply clicking on the image below.  Let us know what you think of the new site.

Mouthguard Fitting 2-6pm Sun 10th Feb

There will be only one mouthguard fitting session by our mouthguard supplier and club sponsor SportsSafe Australia.  SportSafe are  locally based with a capacity to quickly and efficiently fit and supply to a large club like ours. As we experienced last year, the Sportsafe team fittings were a lot quicker than previous years.

Mouth guard prices start from $100 each and there are a huge variety of colours to choose from.  EFTPOS, Credit Card or Cash will be accepted on the day. Please check with your health insurance as it generally covered by rebates – item number 151. All parents are welcome to purchase mouth guards from any other provider, the club simply offers this as an option.  Please note that all VJFC players must wear a mouthguard while playing.

No photo description available.

Registration Day: 2-6pm Sunday 10th Feb

All returning players have the opportunity to register online via the club website, or come up to Livingstone on Sunday 10th February between 2pm and 6pm.  We are still a few players short in a few of the teams (see flyer below).

If any current player has a brother, sister or friend that may be interested in playing football this season, please bring them along to the rego day or training, or get them to register online via the club website.  First time players are welcome to come along and give footy a try.  Please note that we WILL be fielding an U10 Girls team this season.

Merchandise on Sale: 2-6pm Sun 10th Feb

Our rego & mouthguard fitting day also provides an opportunity to purchase your club shorts and socks that all players are required to purchase.  Payments can be taken in cash or credit card.  All other club merchandise (including shorts & socks) are available to purchase via the club website.

Sponsorship

If you or someone you know may be interested in supporting our club through a sponsorship, we are always looking to welcome new sponsors. It is a wonderful way to ensure our kids have support for their endeavours, as well as helping local companies stay connected to our community.  For further information and to talk about sponsorship opportunities, please get in touch with Trent Touhy on email: marketing@vermontjfc.com.au or mobile: 0408 291 600.
